Google Dreambeans in India: 14 Languages, Privacy and How It Works

Google Dreambeans, an experimental AI app from Google Labs, is now available in India on Android and iOS. It reads signals from apps you already use, such as Gmail, Calendar and Google Photos, and turns them into a short set of illustrated stories each day, with no prompt needed. India is the first market outside the US to get it, and it arrives with English plus 13 Indian languages.

What Is Google Dreambeans?

Google introduced Dreambeans in June 2026 as a feed meant to connect you with what matters “without the endless scroll”. Instead of an infinite timeline, you get a finite collection of stories built from your own Google activity and drawn in an AI-generated illustrated style using Nano Banana 2.

Stories can suggest places to visit, things to try, arts and crafts ideas, shows to watch or reminders about upcoming events. You can open a story for more detail, bookmark it or share it. Google has also begun using its Veo video model to animate images in some stories.

Google Dreambeans India Launch: Key Facts

Detail What we know
Platforms Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store)
Price Free to download; the App Store listing mentions in-app purchases but gives no details
Age 18 and above
Accounts Personal Google accounts only, not Workspace work accounts
Languages English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu

One catch for Indian users: you can pick only one output language at a time, and stories cannot mix languages. That may feel stiff for people who naturally think and type in Hinglish.

How to Set It Up

  1. Install “Dreambeans by Google Labs” from the Play Store or App Store.
  2. Sign in with your personal Google account and tap “Get started”.
  3. Choose which apps to connect, such as Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, Search and Gemini, or tap “Connect all”. At least one is required.
  4. Tap “Done” and wait a few hours for your first story feed.

If you turn on face grouping in Google Photos, stories can feature you and the people you photograph most.

Privacy: What You Are Handing Over

Dreambeans works only because it reads your inbox, calendar and photos, so the controls matter. Google says you choose which services to connect and can disconnect them at any time. You can delete your Dreambeans data from the profile section, and Google says data deleted in a connected service is also removed from the app’s personalisation. Your Dreambeans choices do not change your Personal Intelligence settings in Gemini or AI Mode.

You can also ask it to avoid topics, such as work matters, and use the thumbs-down button on stories you dislike. Google warns the app is experimental and may get facts wrong. Its product manager also acknowledged it could surface stories about people who have died, so tune those settings early.

Why India, and Will It Catch On?

Google told TechCrunch it chose India because many Indians already use Gemini, Gmail and Google Photos together. Early numbers suggest Google needs that reach: Sensor Tower estimates about 55,000 US downloads since June, with October downloads down 84% from September to about 5,500. In its first 30 days of wide US availability, the app saw roughly 29,000 downloads, against 2.8 million for ChatGPT’s first month.

The takeaway: Google Dreambeans is free to try, and its regional-language support makes it more relevant here than most AI apps. Connect one or two services first, see whether the stories feel useful, and only then decide whether it deserves access to your whole Google life. App developers should watch it as a test of whether a finite, personalised AI feed can hold attention in India.

Note: Details are based on Google’s announcements, store listings and reports published between 2 and 3 November 2026. Dreambeans is experimental, and features, languages and availability may change.
