Well, this review cannot be complete without getting down to the basics first.
To start with, let’s look at this app’s specifications first. We have all the reasons to thank the app’s developer because they were generous enough to let this app support four languages: English, German, Dutch, and Spanish. It requires iOS 8.0 or later in order for it to function in your device. The current version of this app is version 1.36 after it was last updated last March 2017. And at 72.9 MB, this app is a little space intensive compared to other apps of the same league. Given the large storage allocation of Apple devices, though, that amount of space can be considered as negligible.
The real score for this trending app, however, is how it looks, performs and responds to its user’s hands. First up, we will talk about its pros. This app has a beautiful, streamlined interface, and has lots of useful options to choose from. Mypostcard’s main menu page has a dedicated side window for all the main options, such as Home, Log-in, Register, Buy Credits, Earn Credits, and My Archive, as well as FAQ, Feedback, and Support. You can access this page by pressing a button at the top-left most corner of the screen. The main menu page then slides up upon opening and folds down under the Home page again when closed. Each button has a quick response time, which is a plus factor.
Inside the Home page you can find the app’s main functions, such as Send Postcard, Greeting Cards, Themes, and dedicated Facebook and Instagram buttons.
Creating your postcard is very simple in this app. First, tap on the Send Postcard button then select a wide selection of styles and select a photo either from your own device’s gallery or from Instagram. Once the picture is uploaded, you can tweak your photo using built-in functions. Another great addition to its functionality is the zoom-in or zoom-out function. Another thing worthy of praise for this app is its smooth animation while working with your photo. Once you are satisfied with your photo’s orientation, you can add frame to it. After all it’s done, you can now add text to your postcard. You can also change font style as you wish. The last thing you have to do is to send your finished postcard. It’s that easy!
For the cons, there are only a few that is worth taking notice of. First, sending your postcard is not free. You will be charged $2.29 every time you send a postcard. That is not a big amount, by the way. Also, the font styles are very limited. And for each postcard theme, there is a corresponding fee to it, which is a bit surprising when you are on a budget. Lastly, there is still a waiting time ranging from two days at the minimum up to twelve days before the postcard could be received by your receiver, which is also a bit frustrating.
My overall verdict for this app is satisfactory because from the looks of it, the pros outweighs the cons. No wonder it is one of the most downloaded iOS app since it was released in the market.
