The Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu has tried to promote the Prime Minister’s “Swach Bharat Abhiyan” by extending the same to the railway coaches with the launch of new mobile application “Clean My Coach”, which allows the passengers to lodge a complain with cleaning staff while traveling.
According to information obtained, the service will be provided for long distance trains initially, which will enable the passengers to forward a message regarding filthy conditions inside the coach via mobile phone or online. One the issue is received, it will be attended by the cleaning staff within fifteen minutes.
As per the official website, the passenger will have to enter his/her PNR no. with name to send a request online. Also, passengers can send a request through normal SMS in manner “CLEAN <space> [PNR number]” to 58888 at any time between 06:00am to 10:00pm. Such message will be forwarded to the cleaning officials on the train with the respective seat number and coach number to provide an instant solution to the issue.
The said service has been granted for few selected trains, termed as “OBSERVE TRAINS” to test the efficiency in working which would be later on extended to all long-distance trains. This service not only covers the cleanliness and hygiene in the compartment and toilets, but also responds to the housekeeping needs of the passengers while traveling on board. As said by the senior officials, this has to be adopted by all railway zones and is to be made effective soon.

This service aims to reduce the irritation of traveling in unhygienic conditions in Indian trails and the pain incurred by the passengers to trace the cleaning officials on board to make complains. It will ensure speedy cleaning inside the coach without much trouble for the passengers.
Such service will be provided through the housekeeping department, which is set up at different stations. This is a smarter way introduced to deal with increasing untidiness within Train compartments and trouble caused to passengers.
